PLEASE BACK UP THIS DISK BEFORE USING IT AS THERE
IS A LOT OF DISK ACCESS DURING THE GAME.
ALSO PLEASE LEAVE YOUR GAME DISK WRITE-ENABLED.
NAME YOUR NEW DISK PICTURES AS THIS ONE.
This programme is a re-write of a programme called
PICTURES which I released through the AMOS PD Library last
year (APD443 for those interested). However I have added
the following changes to the programme to (I hope) make it
better.
1. Forty extra pictures plus I have re-done some of the old
ones.
2. I have added a facility where you can play against the
AMIGA instead of always needing a partner.
3. There is a new method of selecting pictures which should
prevent you always getting the same pictures at the start
of every game.
4. You can now score points as you play. 10 points for each
correct answer and 500 points for completing a picture
first.
5. A high score table to record how well you have done. If
you play long enough you will always get on the high score
table, but so what, It's nice to see your name on there
isn't it.
At the start of the game there is an opening screen
which can be disposed of by pressing one of the mouse
buttons but leave it showing for a while and see what
happens.
HOW TO PLAY
===========
The game is completely MOUSE driven, no keyboard
input is needed at all.
Once the opening screen is disposed of you are asked
to choose whether to play against the computer or another
human and then can enter your name(s) which are shown in the
boxes below. If you make a mistake then you can start again
by clicking in the 'N' box which then appears. If all is OK
then click on the 'Y' box.
You now move to the main game screen. If playing
against the computer you ALWAYS start first but remember the
computer will always win if you make the same mistake twice
as it learns as it plays.
If playing against a human opponent the computer
decides who starts.
Simply click on one of the little boxes below your
Picture Screen and one of the following will be displayed:-
A TICK - This earns you 10 points and part of a picture will
be formed in the Picture Screen above.
A CROSS - This means that you change players.
A BOMB - This clears any part picture you may have formed
and clears all your ticks and crosses. The other
player then gets a go.
Once a full picture is formed in one of the two
Picture screens then you go to the Results screen.
Here each players score is displayed and you can:-
1. Carry on with the present game.
2. Pick new names and start a new game - If any player has
scored enough to make the High Score Table then his
name is added and the table displayed for a short time.
You are then returned to the name entering screen and
can pick new names/opponents.
3. See the High Scores (Speaks for itself really).
4. QUIT. First you are shown the High Scores and can choose
if you want to quit or return to the Results screen
using the buttons at the bottom of the screen
